In May, 1981 a regional organization was formed by six countries in the Arabian Gulf area. The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf represents Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. A new internet domain – .gcc domain name extension – has been created to enhance internet services for the populations of GCC member countries in the Gulf area. The .gcc domain's main goal is to enhance coordination, integration and inter-connection in different spheres.
